  • 1 cup quality root beer
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Chili powder

Instructions

  1. Rinse and soak navy beans overnight or use the quick soak method (boil for an hour).
  2. In a large oven-safe pot, combine soaked beans with broth and simmer for an hour.
  3. Cook Turkey Bacon until crispy in a separate pan; sauté onions, bell pepper, and garlic in the bacon fat.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together root beer, ketchup, barbecue sauce, maple syrup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and chili powder.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Combine all ingredients in the pot with beans; cover and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.
  7. Stir and reduce temperature to 300°F; bake uncovered for another hour.
  8. Cover again and lower to 250°F; bake for an additional two hours until tender.
