  • 275g granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 335g all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 180ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • Pink food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the softened butter with sugar until fluffy; add vanilla and eggs one at a time.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternating with milk.
  5. Divide the batter into three bowls: leave one plain, color one pink with food coloring, and mix cocoa powder into the last.
  6. Spoon the batters alternately into the prepared pan and swirl with a knife.
  7. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  8. Cool before frosting with butter icing tinted with pink food coloring.
