  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour for garlic naan
  • 1 tsp sugar for garlic naan
  • 1 tsp salt for garlic naan
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef chunks with salt, black pepper, and half of the minced garlic.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot; sauté chopped onions until translucent. Add remaining garlic and grated ginger.
  3. Brown the marinated beef in the pot for about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Add curry powder and other spices; mix well.
  5. Pour in beef broth and coconut milk; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for at least 1.5 hours until tender.
  6. For garlic naan, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast; add warm water to form dough. Knead for about 5 minutes and let rise for an hour.
  7. Divide dough into four portions; roll out into ovals. Cook on a heated frying pan until bubbly on top.
  8. Serve hot curry garnished with cilantro alongside warm naan.
