  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine apples, apple cider, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Cook over medium-low heat uncovered for about 1 hour until apples are very soft.
  2. Blend the mixture using a hand blender until smooth. If necessary, transfer in batches to a regular blender.
  3. Return the puree to the pot and cook uncovered for another hour until thickened and deep mahogany in color.
  4. Stir in lemon juice and transfer the apple butter into jars for storage.
