  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef and vegetables into thin strips.
  2. Marinate the beef with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper for about 10 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok until shimmering.
  4. Stir-fry the marinated beef for 3-4 minutes until browned; set aside.
  5. In the same wok, stir-fry onions for 2 minutes; then add bell peppers and cook until just tender.
  6. Return the beef to the wok, combine everything over high heat for another minute.
  7. Serve hot over rice or noodles, drizzled with sesame oil if desired.
